How project information is handled.

Briefs, files and account details are used to scope, deliver and support the project you submitted. They are kept for that work. They are not sold as a marketing list.

What this notice covers

This notice explains how Hire Freelancer handles information you give us on hirefreelancer.com.au. It covers a new brief, a workspace account, messages, files, approvals and invoices. Public pages such as Insights are reading for anyone. They are separate from the files and messages inside a project.

The commercial basis of a project is in the terms. A privacy request goes to hello@hirefreelancer.com.au, or through contact.

02

What we collect

When you post a project we keep your name, email, phone if you give one, company if you give one, and the brief: the outcome, timing, budget range and category. Creating the workspace also keeps the sign-in details for that account. The password is stored in a form that can check your sign-in. It is not kept as the password you typed.

On an open project we keep messages, the project description, files you or the team upload, who uploaded each file, approval decisions, change notes and invoice details. A sign-in session stays on your browser so the workspace can remain open. A separate visitor cookie remembers the browser so page views can be counted and a site chat can stay in one conversation. The page view records the path, the time, the IP address, and the country and city that address points to. It also records the account email when someone is signed in. The country and city are the area the connection comes from, not a street address. The IP address is sent to a location lookup so that country and city can be stored. Those visitor details are kept only so Hire Freelancer can check its own site traffic. They are not sold, and they are not used to contact you or to build a marketing list.

03

Why it is used

The information is used to scope the work, deliver it, show progress in the workspace, prepare invoices and answer a support question about that project. A brief is not reused as a list of prospects for other companies.

We also use it to tell you what happens next, including the email that opens your workspace after you post a project, and the note the team receives when you save a description or send a message.

04

Who can see it

You can see your projects when you sign in. The Hire Freelancer people doing that work can see the brief, messages, files and approvals they need for it. They do not receive a copy of your password.

You can ask who is involved by emailing hello@hirefreelancer.com.au. An invoice or a question that is not on the project uses the same address, as described on contact.

05

Messages, files and the description

Send messages and upload files in the workspace so they stay on that project. Each file shows who added it. You can update the project description until delivery starts. Saving it emails the project team.

Files are kept with the project record. They are not published on the public site. Ownership of agreed deliverables, and what happens to materials you supplied, is set out in the terms.

06

The site chat

The chat on the public site sends the message you type so the assistant can reply. Hire Freelancer keeps that conversation and can read it in the admin analytics. It is for questions about how the service works. It is not added to a project record unless you post a project.

Leave passwords, payment details and private client files out of the chat. Those belong in the workspace after you have an account, or in the brief form if you are starting a project.

07

How long it is kept

Project records are kept for the life of the engagement and for the period needed for invoices, a dispute and any support the scope includes. Sign-in details are kept while the account is used to open that workspace. Page views, including the IP address and the country and city, and site chat messages are kept so the team can see which pages were opened and what the chat was asked.

When a project stops, the record, including invoices, stays available for that purpose. The terms explain what happens to the work if a project ends before or after delivery starts.

08

A copy or a correction

You can ask for a copy of the project information we hold, or ask us to correct something that is wrong. Email hello@hirefreelancer.com.au with the project reference if you have one, and say what you want copied or corrected.

A request about your account, an invoice, or information on a project is handled Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm. Messages and files that belong on an open project can still be sent from the workspace.

Common questions

Do you sell contact details?

No. Briefs, files and account details are used to scope, deliver and support the project you submitted.

Who can see my files?

You can, when you sign in. The people doing that project can see the files they need for the work. Files are not published on the public site.

Is the public website the same as my workspace?

No. Pages such as Insights are public reading. Messages, files, approvals and invoices stay inside the project workspace.

What happens to a chat message?

It is sent so the assistant can reply, and Hire Freelancer keeps it so the team can read the conversation. It is not added to a project unless you post a project. Leave passwords and private files out of the chat.

How do I ask for a copy or a correction?

Email hello@hirefreelancer.com.au with the project reference, if you have one, and say what you want copied or corrected.

Start without a perfect brief

Start with the outcome. We will build the plan.

A sentence, a file, or a rough budget is enough to open the project. Clarifying questions come before any work is scoped.
