Projects are sold as managed outcomes.

A project starts when the scope and price are agreed. Work follows that written scope. These terms say what that agreement covers.

01

What these terms cover

These terms are the commercial basis for a managed project with Hire Freelancer. Posting a brief opens scoping. Delivery starts when the written scope and the price are agreed. The stages between those two moments are on how it works.

A question about an invoice, a privacy request, or something that is not on the project goes through contact. Day-to-day messages, files and approvals stay in the workspace.

02

Scope and changes

Deliverables, assumptions and milestones are written down before delivery starts. The description in the workspace can be updated until delivery starts. After that, work follows the written scope.

Work outside that scope is a change. It is priced and agreed before it is added to the plan. A file or a message in the workspace does not, by itself, expand the scope.

03

Price, GST and invoices

Prices are in Australian dollars and exclude GST unless a quote says otherwise. Tax invoices show GST. Example ranges, and what the price covers, are on pricing. The Australian business context is on for Australian businesses.

The workspace lists the invoices for that project. A question about an amount, a due date or a tax invoice is sent by email, as described on contact.

04

What you provide

You name the outcome, the date that matters, and who approves the work. You also provide the access, brand or product decisions, and the content the scope says you will supply.

Hire Freelancer asks when something required for the next step is missing. That part of the work waits until the decision or the access is there. The rest of the agreed plan continues where it can.

05

The workspace

Messages, files, approvals and the project description live on the project in the workspace. Send the message or upload the file there so it stays with that work. You can update the description until delivery starts. The project team is told when you save it.

Email is for an invoice, a privacy request, or a question that is not on the project. How account details, files and messages are handled is in the privacy notice.

06

Approvals and handover

You approve milestones in the workspace. Work is reviewed against the agreed scope before you are asked to accept the handover. The review covers the requirements in the scope, functional and responsive checks where the work is digital, and the files and notes that travel with the deliverables. Open issues are listed.

Acceptance covers the agreed deliverables. Support, a fix, or a next phase after acceptance is its own agreement, unless the written scope already includes it.

07

Ownership and confidentiality

Your briefs, files and other materials are used to deliver that project. They are kept for the project, the invoice record and any agreed support. They are not sold as a marketing list.

The written scope states what is being produced. Ownership of the agreed deliverables transfers as set out in that scope after payment. Materials you supplied stay yours. Tools, methods and working files that were not part of the agreed deliverables stay with Hire Freelancer.

08

If the project needs to stop

Scoping can stop before delivery starts. Say so in the workspace or by email, and no price is due for work that was never agreed.

Once delivery has started, work already done follows the agreed scope and price. A request to pause, reduce or end the project is handled as a change to that plan, agreed before the remaining work changes. The project record, including invoices, stays available as described in the privacy notice.

Common questions

When does a project start?

When the scope and price are agreed. Describing an outcome, or posting a brief, is the start of scoping, not the start of delivery.

What if we want something that was not in the scope?

It is treated as a change. It is priced and agreed before it is added to the plan. A message or a file in the workspace does not expand the scope on its own.

When can the project description change?

In the workspace, until delivery starts. After delivery starts, a change to the agreed scope is priced and agreed before it joins the plan.

Who owns the deliverables?

The written scope states what is being produced. Ownership of those agreed deliverables transfers as set out in the scope after payment. Materials you supplied stay yours.

Where do messages and files belong?

On the project, in the workspace. Email is for an invoice, a privacy request, or a question that is not on the project.

Start without a perfect brief

Start with the outcome. We will build the plan.

A sentence, a file, or a rough budget is enough to open the project. Clarifying questions come before any work is scoped.
